Bernard C. Sheltra 87 of Johnson VT passed away on March 18 2026 while in hospice care in St Albans. Bernie was born on March 7 1939 in Lowell VT to Andrew and Bertha Kinsley Sheltra. He graduated from Johnson High School in 1956 and attended Johnson State College where he attained a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1960. He then began teaching Math and Drivers Ed at Johnson High School. On April 8 1961 Bernard was married to Janet Dubray of Johnson who was his wife until his passing. The couple had two sons Christopher and Thomas. In 1965 Bernard began teaching Math and Drivers Ed at Peoples Academy in Morrisville while working on his Masters Degree in Education through Colgate University and the University of Vermont. He later became Vice Principal and finally Principal at Peoples in 1971. He remained as Principal there until his retirement in 1990.…
