Elizabeth “Betty” Wolford, 78, of Shickshinny, died Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.Born December 26, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (Bistrician) Randall.A graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1965, she was the owner of Wolford’s Beauty, where she worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years.Mrs. Wolford was a member of Shickshinny Valley Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered as dispatch for the Shickshinny Fire Company for over 20 years, and played the role of Mrs. Claus at the fire company, as well as in schools and nursing homes. Martin J Calabro, 70, a resident of Avoca, passed away from a brief illness Wednesday April 1st at home. Born on July 11, 1955 in Pittston, Marty was the son of the late Joseph and Isabella Mancini Calabro. Marty graduated from Pittston Area, class of '73, and Kings College. He was employed by Nabisco/Standard Brands, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Adjusters International, a company who helped disperse government funds to areas affected by natural disasters.An avid golfer and ardent Philadelphia Eagles fan, Marty loved Saturdays on the links with friends and Sundays watching football. He was also a passionate and prolific viewer of films and television. Born in Hudson on February 28 1944 Barbara was one of two daughters of the late Sheriff Frank Jagodinski and Josephine Serafin Jagodinski. She attended SS. Peter and Paul Elementary School and graduated from Plains Memorial High School in 1961. Barbara was later employed in the Administration office at Plains Memorial High School. At that time she met her future husband Carmen Oliveri. Carmen and Barbara were happily married on October 16 1964. For the past sixtyone years the couple resided in Plains where they raised their two children Tracey and Ryan. Barbara created a warm and caring home for her family filling it with fond memories especially for her grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Frances Ann Swiderski Saba passed away on March 20 2026 at the age of 78 after spending the day peacefully with her family at Allied Hospice in WilkesBarre PA. The oldest daughter of the late Frank and Anne Swiderski she was born on March 13 1948 and resided for most of her life in south WilkesBarre. Fran was a 1966 graduate of GAR High School and went on to a career as a nurse and a surgical technician. She is survived by her sons Eli Katie Saba of Dover OH WiI Steph Saba of Minneapolis MN and nephew and godson Adam Megan Michaels and their children Chloe and Gabby of Larksville.
